GigaOm To Begin Paid Content Service-Is Paid Subcription Services Making A Come Back?

I will admit that we bloggers do make most of our money via advertising(much like radio, magazines and newspapers-which is all drying up quickly for most media). It sucks, since we have to have our reades either click or buy something-and we all know that takes time! So when I was reading Audience Magazine, they said that paid content is making a comeback for websites and bloggers-I was a little shocked. But I guess they are onto to something.

GigaOm the tech blog has announced they will start selling subcriptions along with their free access to all their blogs in their network. They will charge $79.00 per year for their premium content. Their CEO said that he felt they needed to take a chance with it, because he felt that new media networks needed more than one source of income. Which that does make sense, and I do agree with him on that.

So my main question is, would you ever start offering premium content for a fee? Also, would you buy premium content at all? Do you think that bloggers need more than one source of income coming in?

Thanks in advance!

Google's Knol

Since I lost my "VIP" status there(which is funny, because the VIP bloggers do not make much money at all), I cannot log on my old site. So I will be reposting my older post here.

Enjoy!

-----

Google, is always finding new ways to expand and to compete with the big leads(ie:Microsoft and Yahoo). But is trying to compete with wikipedia.org crossing over the edge?

Wikipedia is a huge sucess within itself, with just over 2,539,902 articles in english alone, should speak for it self. But what I also like about Wikipedia is the fact that its runs on donations alone-no ads on their site what so ever! Googles Knol(which is in beta stage now) is just in baby stage right now and it could grow into something more, but I doubt that it can beat Wikipedia.

What do you think about Knol? Will you still use Wikipedia?

My Second Attempt At Rev Sharing Site

This is my second attempt, if you will at a paid blogging type site. My first one, well wasn't what I wanted exactly!

Here's the story, I joined Today.com(back when they promised that you get $1.00 per 100 word post for a year?). I was working hard at it, then they kept changing their paying policy. At first I stayed with it, then I realized that with all these changes it wasn't worth the little money I could make with them. So I left.

I hope that I will have better luck here, but we shall see.

Any tips?

XOXO-
